Utah Temple Tour Kick-off Event

My friend Michelle and I received our endowments a couple of months ago-Michelle in May and I just about a month later in June. Sometime around then we decided it'd be fun to visit all the temples in Utah and do a session. After some deliberation, we determined that we'd visit each of 15 temples in geographical order with the exception of Brigham and Payson, which have yet to be built. Our kick-off event was last night at the Logan Temple.
There were four of us who were able to make it. As each of us arrived, we noticed the large number of people who were there and wondered if we'd be able to get into the session. To add to that, as I was presenting my recommend to the officiator at the front desk, the lights dimmed. I went on into the temple where I discovered that whole areas were in the dark. Apparently there had been some sort of power outage and things then started to get backed up. Monica met up with Michelle, Heather, and me where she proposed that we go do sealings. There was a need for people to help with sealings and since there were so many people wanting to go through the session, we decided we'd take advantage of the opportunity. We went up to the sealing rooms, checked in, and waited until they took us into the room. The four of us joined a mom, dad, son, and grandparents who were doing a mini temple tour before the son/grandson leaves on his mission. They had a bunch of names, Monica had some, and the temple had some for us to do as well. The sealer did a great job of coordinating things and it turned out to be a really great experience.
After leaving the temple, we went to Casper's for ice cream and had a good time chatting. While standing outside continuing our chatting, the family from the temple came out of Casper's. It was fun to see them again and talk a little about our experience. We also got to thank them for letting us be a part of their group.
In our chatting last night, we decided that our next temple will be the Ogden Temple. We're planning on early September so we make sure to catch it before it closes for remodeling. Maybe we'll have to do that one twice, once before the remodel and once after. We also talked about whether or not it has to be an endowment session that we do or if we could do sealings or initiatories. It was decided that there are temples we definitely want to do a session in but others could be any of the three options. Maybe we'll wait to see what the need is when we get there.
I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to go to the temple and feel very blessed that I have friends who are able and willing to go as well. I'm excited to see where this tour takes us and think it will be a real blessing and a real adventure!
